Dump trailers are open-top hauling trailers built to unload themselves, using a hydraulic hoist to raise the body and discharge material rather than requiring a loader or crew to empty it by hand. They come in several configurations suited to different jobs — end dumps that tip rearward for fast unloading, side dumps that roll the body to one side for stability and speed, belly or bottom dumps that release material through gates while the truck is still rolling, and live bottoms that use a conveyor floor to spread material evenly. Fleets use them to move loose bulk commodities: aggregate, sand and gravel, asphalt, topsoil, grain, coal and ore, demolition debris, and scrap. That makes them core equipment in construction and road building, aggregate and mining operations, agriculture, waste hauling and demolition, and landscaping — essentially any operation where the same material moves in volume, day after day.
